How do you launch a brand-new EV retailer into paid search from a standing start?

By building a structure that could learn quickly. Route ran Berry's BYD Thames Ditton paid search programme model by model, with a broad brand campaign running underneath every burst, then carried what that structure showed into the plan for 2026.

Berry's launch of the BYD franchise at Thames Ditton in 2025 needed to build a brand-new electric vehicle retailer's presence in paid search from a standing start, winning search attention within a defined catchment around the Thames Ditton showroom.

We planned a burst-led paid search launch, building one campaign per model with sitelinks for test drives and finance offers, and running a broad brand campaign, Generics, alongside every burst. Moving into the Q2 2026 plan, we widened the catchment to a 10-mile radius around Thames Ditton and Croydon and layered in Performance Max and Meta alongside Google Ads, targeting people already searching electric vehicle and finance-intent terms, as well as broader green-living audiences.

The 2025 launch ran across two bursts, March to June and July to September, each one segmented model by model across Dolphin, Seal, Seal U, Atto 3 and Sealion 7. The Generics brand campaign ran throughout both bursts.

Calls lasting more than a minute, the reporting's measure of a relevant enquiry, rose almost two and a half times from the first burst to the second. Across both bursts, the Generics campaign consistently drove the strongest phone-call response of any campaign, even with fewer impressions and clicks than the Seal and Sealion campaigns. That pattern shaped the model-by-model structure carried into the Q2 2026 plan.
