What can digital display do beyond banner impressions?

A great deal, when it is planned properly. Display can build awareness, support consideration and retarget respectfully across web and in-app - all served through independent ad-serving and verification, measured against real outcomes rather than counted as impressions and left there.

What we do

Digital display supports the full funnel: high-impact formats to build awareness, contextual and audience placements for consideration, and retargeting that re-engages people without following them everywhere. We plan display and native across web and in-app, served through third-party ad serving (TPAS) with fraud safeguarding and independent auditing, and reported through centralised cross-publisher reporting and attribution.

Good display respects the audience. Frequency is capped, retargeting is bounded, and creative is planned for the placement rather than stretched to fit. The aim is presence that helps, not banners that annoy.

What you get

A display plan mapped to the funnel, with independent ad serving so you can see delivery across publishers in one place. Segmentation and A/B testing to sharpen what works, considered retargeting, and reporting that ties display to outcomes rather than raw impression counts.

Display and audio-visual, side by side

Digital display and audio-visual are two halves of the same job, and we plan them together. This page covers the display side; our dedicated audio-visual (AV) page covers linear TV, connected TV, BVOD and online video in full. Where a brief needs moving image and display working as one, start with whichever fits your primary objective and we will join them up. Display also extends naturally into programmatic buying.

Display in a wider plan

Display rarely carries a campaign alone; it supports awareness and re-engagement around the channels that convert. Our built environment work for Welsh Oak Frame combined digital display with paid search, specialist print and conversion work as part of a lead-generation campaign. Display has supported plenty of our other work too, from digital display and retargeting for Darlington Building Society and high-impact formats for First York's Park and Ride at Christmas to programmatic display for RIBA membership recruitment and native advertising for Carents Room. You can see more in built environment.

Common questions

What is third-party ad serving and why does it matter?

Third-party ad serving means your display ads are delivered and counted through an independent platform rather than each publisher's own system. It gives you one consistent view of delivery across every publisher, independent verification of what actually ran, and cleaner attribution, which makes reporting far more trustworthy.

Is retargeting intrusive?

It does not have to be. We cap frequency, set sensible time limits and exclude people who have already converted, so retargeting re-engages genuine interest rather than following users around. Planned this way it supports consideration without becoming a nuisance.

How is digital display different from programmatic?

Display describes the format - banner and native ad units on websites and in apps. Programmatic describes one way of buying it, through automated real-time bidding. We plan display across both directly bought and programmatic inventory, and our programmatic page covers the buying method in more detail.

Can display be measured beyond impressions?

Yes. With independent ad serving and attribution we report on viewability, engagement and downstream actions, not just impressions served. That lets us judge display on its contribution to outcomes rather than on volume alone.
